Do Inanimate Objects Harbor Energy?

by ~ShiningSoulYoga~

From lucky jerseys to using stones for healing, people have believed in the powers of inanimate objects throughout all of time. During the world cup, my husband made me wear a t-shirt I had gotten when we went to the US vs. Turkey game, every time the US played, because they won the first time I wore the shirt. Unfortunately, it didn’t help. Maybe because I haggled with the guy in the parking lot who sold it to me. My dad keeps a plastic toy snake in every car he has ever had in my lifetime because he found it once, long ago, and he believes that it protects the car.

I personally do like to believe that on one level or another, objects do hold power. I have a rock on my desk from a beautiful day my husband and I were at the beach. It was the perfect day… lots of laughter, sunshine, and fun. Best of all, we saw what seemed like hundreds of dolphins playing in the waves that day, which always makes me happy. I picked up a white rock on the beach that day, and have kept it with me ever since, because it reminds me of that beautiful time. When I am anxious and I pick it up and touch the smooth surface, I swear I feel calmer. I also have an Om charm I wear on a chord on my wrist that I havent taken off since the day I got it six months ago, during a particularly difficult time. Things have changed immensely for the better since then, and I wear it as a reminder that I can overcome anything, and also to never stray too far from yoga, which has done me a world of good. My husband calls that charm my “protector.” :)

There are other things also, from my mala beads and other charms and jewelry, to a clay starfish I have had on my desk at my past three jobs. I don’t know what it is, but I just feel better when they are around. Whether it is actual energy coming from within the object, or the power of that object to change your focus and energy because you believe in it, there is something there. I think that if you believe in something, you have the power to make it happen. So, maybe, if you believe in an object and the energy it gives you, you can transfer that energy into that object and store it there for a time when you need it most.

  1. …….and when you don’t need it anymore? give it way…. and you will free up space within your soul.

  2. Great thoughts. The day after my mother died I went for a walk and a small white feather flew by and followed me. I do not believe in the supernatural, but this small feather just would not go away! It went on for few minutes and finally I let it land in palm of my hand. I keep it in my wallet ever since.
