“Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” ~Chinese Proverb
One of the most tragic things humans do is settle and assume that they cannot do anything about the hand they were dealt. Crappy things happen, from bad days and arguments to sickness and death, life is not all sunshine and flowers. However, it is a personal choice to dwell in the bad and complain and feel sorry for oneself, or to be the source of light to illuminate the shadows and see the best in the worst of situations.
Happiness is a choice that you can consciously make, today. Negative thoughts and emotions feed off of your attention, so if you give in it is easy to slide down a slippery slope leading to a dark, dingy place. While sometimes that may be the easiest place to go, it is by no means the best. We were put here for a short time for some purpose, so take your metaphorical steering wheel and make a commitment to always driving towards light and happiness.
Don’t waste time being unhappy. When bad things happen, recognize them, take time to grieve, but don’t let those bad things become you.
